Pacific Smiles Dental Newstead - Dentist in Brisbane CBD

Would leave zero stars if possible... Had my permanent retainer broken here during a routine scale and clean previously. After that time the repairs to the retainer have failed twice. Both times I previously went back a dentist at Pacific Smiles attempted to fix this and it was charged to my insurance. I went back today as it had broken a third time and got it patched up by Dr Henry Low. Now all of a sudden the price has changed to $238 for the same service?? When questioned the practice manager claimed "you got the treatment and we can charge whatever we like". Absolutely disgusting the way I was spoken to and gaslit. It was like the practice manager was enjoying the power trip and being able to speak down to someone. Embarassing behaviour and probably time to change jobs. Will be taking this to APHRA as well as the ACCC for misleading practice. You can't quote something previously twice and then change your mind afterwards. No where when booking does it state different dentists have different prices. I ll also be reporting to AHM about their preferred provider. Hopefully this gives the practice good value for its $238 scam.... It would have been great if my retainer wasn't broken here in the first place but of course this was never considered. The only thing worse than the dental treatment here is the staff on the front desk 😂 And pacific smiles don't bother replying with a copy and paste template suggesting that I email my concerns through 💩

I arrived at the clinic on Monday in unbearable pain. The day before, I had seen another dentist who simply sent me home saying there was nothing wrong. The next day, I went to Pacific Smiles and Dr. Elizabeth Hurst received me. She listened carefully, understood my pain, and was extremely professional. She identified a dental cavity that she could treat immediately, but she was also honest enough to say that she suspected the issue went deeper. She explained that while she could fix the immediate problem, I would likely need to see a specialist for a root canal treatment to properly address the real source of the pain. She made it clear that treating only the surface issue would mean two unnecessary expenses in the long run. That level of honesty and respect for the patient is something I deeply value. Dr. Elizabeth Hurst has my full respect and admiration for being consistent with what she said and for truly prioritising my wellbeing. If every professional acted with this level of integrity, I believe we would all live better.

Summary - if you are reading this. There are plenty of 1 star reviews telling you not to come here. And this dental place rating is far below any others in the area for a reason. As of today I have escalated my complaint to AHPRA. And despite the response below no one contacted me, refunded me, or reimbursed me for the cost of Invisalign I came to have my permanent retainer re-bonded. The dentist who did it - applied it wrong bending the wire and mis gluing it to my front teeth. It has caused my teeth to shift. Now I will have to spend >$5,000 to get Invisalign after already undergoing through orthodontics. My teeth have clearly shifted. I have gone now to two different opinions which agree that is due to the bottom wire being misplaced. Go to Newstead smile or Tenerife Dental. Far superior. And for all those people with clearly got misservice for your time here - escalate your concern. This is not ok.

Great clinic conveniently located at Gasworks making it easy to find parking. Reception is clean and inviting and reception team always attentive and friendly. Seen Dr Toan a couple of times now (once for emergency capping when I knocked myself out..long story).. and again for a clean. Put my nerves at ease (very nervous patient 🥴) and was gentle, efficient and knowledgeable. Now my family go there too! No complaints from us!
