My experiences with the dental hygiene service have been very disappointing. I have had my teeth cleaned by dental hygienists at Gentle Dental Care on two occasions. I specifically asked if a dentist could perform the cleaning, but I was told that teeth cleaning is done exclusively by dental hygienists. During my first visit, photos were taken, and I was told that there were some treatments I should consider. However, very little explanation was provided, and I did not receive much information about what was being recommended or why. My second visit was significantly worse. A different hygienist performed the cleaning. No photos or X-rays were taken, and there was no examination by a dentist. Throughout the entire appointment, the hygienist barely spoke to me. She cleaned the tartar and then sat at the computer typing notes without explaining anything she had found or discussing my oral health. I was then sent to reception, where I was given a treatment plan listing several recommended procedures along with a significant estimated cost. No one explained the findings, showed me any photos, discussed the reasons for the recommendations, or gave me an opportunity to ask questions. I was simply handed a treatment plan and a price. For comparison, I later visited another clinic for a cleaning. There, the staff took photos, carefully explained everything, showed me exactly what they were seeing, and discussed their recommendations in detail. They also identified two cavities that, according to them, were not new and had likely been present for some time. These cavities were never mentioned during my visits to Gentle Dental Care. I would also like to mention my son's experience. He had his teeth cleaned at the same clinic, and it was unfortunately the worst dental cleaning experience he has ever had. When treating children, communication is especially important. However, the hygienist did not introduce herself, ask him any questions, explain what she was about to do, or try to make him feel comfortable. She simply sat him in the chair and immediately started scaling and cleaning his teeth without saying a single word to him. As a parent, I found this extremely unprofessional. Children can be nervous during dental appointments, and taking even a minute to communicate, explain the procedure, and build rapport should be a basic part of patient care. Unfortunately, none of that happened. Based on both my own experiences and my son's, the biggest issue is not only the quality of the service itself but the complete lack of communication, explanation, and patient engagement. Patients should understand what is being done, what issues have been identified, and why certain treatments are being recommended. While I have had very positive experiences with some of the dentists at this clinic, I cannot recommend the dental hygiene service based on my experiences. Good communication, patient education, and professional care should be a standard part of every appointment, and unfortunately, that was not the case here.

My son (9) recently had surgery to remove a couple molars, and do some repair work including a crown. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and made us both feel at ease. From the reception, nurses, anesthesiologist, pead dentist and surgeon, would highly recommend them all.
