I had a great experience with this dental clinic. Dr Tong was professional, caring, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made me feel very comfortable throughout the appointment. Dr Tong also genuinely took the time to find the best solution for my dental needs rather than rushing the process. The staff were all friendly and welcoming as well. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dentist!
Visited Primary Dental today with my partner, very expensive (double compared to other practices). However, Dr Liam was excellent. Fantastic communicator, guiding you through every step and amazing guy in general. In short, 2/5 for the practice (due to price), but 10/5 for the practitioner.
Unfortunately, my experience at this clinic was not very good. I saw Dr. Tong for emergency tooth pain in December 2025. He was not very communicative and gave me anesthesia without even telling me beforehand. I felt completely hopeless in the chair with my mouth open when I suddenly realised he was injecting me. I told him I don’t have private insurance and just wanted a temporary filling since I was going to my home country soon and get it done over there but I don’t think my answer was well received. I felt he looked at me as if I were “just a poor person.” I don’t know if it was just me being sensitive, but during the procedure, he rested his hand on the protective glasses I was asked to wear, and it felt rough and crushed my face that I almost cried. Even after that experience, I decided I wanted a root canal for the same tooth here instead of waiting until I go back to my country. I was thinking it would probably be cheaper to do it in the same clinic with a different doctor since they could share my information instead of going to other clinic. The next week, I was seen by Dr. Giri, who was nice and very communicative. Unfortunately, after my first visit, my gum at the injection site started getting sharp pain and it hurt to chew. By the second visit, the pain had worsened. He didn’t finish the root canal, put more medicine in, and kept saying “it’s not supposed to hurt” without explaining what might be happening or what I should do next. After that, my gum and face became swollen, and I had to see my GP twice to get antibiotics. On the third visit, he just took an X-ray, found nothing, and said he didn’t know what was happening, asking me to return the following week if I wasn’t swollen again to finish the root canal. After finishing the antibiotics, I went for the fourth visit and asked him to just complete the procedure because I was tired of the repeated issues. I felt throughout the process that my pain and concerns were not acknowledged. For the fourth visit, he wanted to see me in less than a week. I was still experiencing gum irritation and initially thought it was because he cared about my teeth, but it seemed he just wanted to see me before moving to Sydney to continue treating other patients, even though I was hesitant to return. He completed the root canal on my fourth visit at my request, as I just wanted it finished. Afterward, he asked me to book another tooth treatment before he is moving to Sydney. Given my experience, I did not feel safe having him treat me right before he became unavailable, so I chose to continue care at another clinic instead which is now more gentle very informative and communicative. Overall, this experience was very stressful and traumatising, lasting almost three months and costing over $3,000 for a single tooth. I hope the clinic improves patient communication, pain management, and truly listens to patients’ concerns.
Dr Liam was fantastic and super friendly! Had a good experience with the receptionist, will be coming back for all my dental needs.
This was a terrible service! They doubled booked for the same time and no apologies no alternative and no service. I've brought business to this place and now will make sure myself, my family, and friends never use this dentist again. Truly incredible, and very unprofessional!!!! Strongly suggest anyone reading this find alternative care, as it would be far better than care provided by Primary dental care Philip.
