Plaza Dental Care - Dentist in Modbury

My recent experience with this place was disappointing. I have been told by Narelle that I have cavity in one of my tooth, went for a second and third opinion and was told there is no cavity on the tooth. This was very shocking. I never thought to second guess what a dentist say and if not for other teeth issues I would have never found out about this. I also had a filling done on a small chipped corner, which I thought it was just filling the corner since there is still back support of the tooth. Narelle didn't explain how she plan to fill it. It turned out she layered onto the entire front tooth surface which I understand with good intentions to probably retain the filling better. I felt communication was lacked. I would much preferred a conservative approach with less healthy enamel removed. Especially for such small chip. It was too bulky and after 10 days of trying to adapt I ask if Narelle if she can check to see if a light polish is needed. I naively thought it's only to adjust filling material but reality was my tooth was slopped where the chip is and again more enamel was removed in the process. The tooth is now in a warmer tone and bottom half of tooth feels rough and gritty. Most frustrating thing is that it threw my bite off for a long time as a part of that tooth no longer contacting. I had painful aches for weeks trying to adapt to the imbalance bite which led to other issues. Again, seems careless and lack of communication. I have been here for many years and enjoyed coming until this experience. Truefully, the service is always good and the hygienist Robyn is also very lovely. But I do think as a dental profession, it’s even more important to take time and explain the technical side of things so patient is informed and educated to make decisions. This practice is very busy and sometime feels rushed. For instance, when Narelle first told me I have cavity and to book an appointment to fill, she didn’t take the time to tell me which tooth. And when asked she said she will show me when I come back to fill it and rushed off. Which now I realize it’s probably due to that particular tooth doesn’t even have cavity.

I have been going to Narelle for about 17 years. Her patience and understanding is second to none. As someone that cried and shook hysterically when I first started going due to very bad experiences with other dentists, I can now go in bravely with a smile on my face and have a laugh with her and the team. All the girls present and past are all super caring people. If I could give Plaza dental 10 stars I would.

Narelle took the time to clearly show me which tooth was affected and explained in detail why treatment was recommended. I really appreciated how thorough and transparent she was, which gave me full confidence in her diagnosis and treatment plan. When it came time to complete the filling, Narelle carefully explained her approach and why she would be doing the filling a certain way to ensure it was strong and long lasting. I felt well informed and comfortable with the plan. The final result looks very natural, blends beautifully with the surrounding enamel, and feels smooth. My bite feels balanced and comfortable, and I adapted to it quickly. Throughout the process, communication was clear and professional. I never felt rushed, and any questions I had were answered thoughtfully. It’s reassuring to have a dentist who takes the time to explain the technical aspects so patients can feel educated and confident in their care. I’ve been coming here for many years and have always enjoyed my visits. The service is consistently great, and all the staff are lovely as well. The practice is busy, which speaks to how trusted they are, but I have always felt cared for and well looked after. Overall, I truly appreciate the professionalism, skill, and clear communication from the team.

My experience here was perfect, Kylee the hygienist was friendly helpful and very informative. She took the time to explain everything to me so that I understood. I will most definitely be coming back, The receptionist was also amazing!

My sons and I have been seeing Narelle for well over 10 years and would not go anywhere else. Narelle and staff have a lovely way of making you feel at ease and are very genuine and caring. Any work that is required is fully explained before and during the procedure and we highly recommend this dental practice. Mandy
