I was disappointed with my experience at Carrara Family Practice when seeking help for women's health concerns. At my initial appointment, I was given a pathology request and little guidance beyond being told to complete blood tests. When I attended pathology, I was informed that I had been given incomplete or incorrect instructions and also needed urine samples and testing at specific times. As a result, I fasted unnecessarily and rearranged my work schedule for no reason. When I returned to discuss my results, the doctor appeared unfamiliar with my case and asked why I was there. My blood test results had not been reviewed before the appointment, and I was simply told that "we have to check your blood" and given another pathology request. At that point, I felt that my concerns were not being listened to or investigated properly. I was also concerned that treatment options were discussed very briefly, despite potential risks being mentioned, including stroke, blood clots and breast cancer. When I pointed out that I had already advised of a strong family history of these conditions involving my mother and aunts, I did not feel that this information was given appropriate consideration. Additionally, I waited between 40 and 60 minutes past my appointment time on every visit, without any apology or explanation. My experience left me feeling dismissed and unsupported. While the practice may be suitable for routine issues, I would not recommend it for anyone seeking thorough investigation and ongoing support for more complex women's health concerns. This version is firm, professional, and less likely to be challenged because it focuses on what happened rather than the doctor's motives or intentions.
Dr Patrus is an amazing GP. He is kind, thorough and knowledgeable. He takes time to listen and understand. Fantastic with children also. The clinic is clean and welcoming. We don’t go anywhere els.
I see Dr Jose regularly at this clinic. She is, hands down, one of the most empathetic and compassionate doctors I have ever met. She works exceptionally hard to provide quality healthcare, and she cares about her patients enough to look deeper into the root of the problem so that she provides the most accurate treatment. She is very thorough in explaining things, and ensures her patients have an accurate understanding of their symptoms, diagnosis and information regarding medications. I highly recommend Dr Jose, she is amazing!
Nice front staff and easy to call; however, the wait times are bad. I booked a fixed time and arrived 5 minutes before my appointment, yet I still had to wait another 38 minutes before being called in — what’s the point of booking a time? The admin should notify patients if there are delays. Doctors shouldn’t put it on their clients to suffer long waits due to a lack of processes and procedures. After finally being seen, the doctor explained that my laboratory results were inconclusive and would need to be redone. Are you kidding me? Talk about wasting my time. I left and won’t be back.
It is so hard to find a truly great doctor—someone who not only has the knowledge but also genuinely cares about their patients. I’ve seen my fair share of GPs over the years, but it wasn’t until I had my son that I truly came to appreciate how important it is to have a doctor who listens, understands, and shows compassion. Dr. Elizabeth Jose is exactly that. She takes the time to listen, engage, investigate, and respond thoughtfully. As a first-time mum, it can be overwhelming when your concerns aren’t taken seriously. I’ve experienced that before, and it ended badly for my son. But with Dr. Jose, I have never once felt dismissed. She has always been understanding, compassionate, and reassuring, which makes all the difference. I must admit, I’m at CFP often (my child seems to catch just about everything!), and the team is always welcoming. In particular, Shae at reception goes above and beyond to accommodate us despite how busy the practice is. I’m not sure of her exact role within the team, but I can honestly say she is worth her weight in gold. We are on a first name basis, so you know we are there alot! I am so grateful to CFP, especially to Dr. Jose and Shae, for the care and kindness they provide. Knowing we have such a supportive and reliable team looking after us is truly comforting. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If I could give more than 5 starts it would be to them. Thank you CFP, until next time.
